In addition, motors, pumps, compressors and other equipment can transfer vibrations to piping systems.<br\/> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a metal pipe is connected to a structure or installation, this can lead to stress, deformation or damage to the piping system. In some cases, this may result in leaks. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does an expansion joint do?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To prevent these types of problems, an expansion joint, also known as an expansion piece, is used.
