Combining road safety with environmental benefits? Genicel makes it possible. This product was originally developed by Profiltra and is now produced and processed by manufacturer CFF. <\/p>\n\n
Genicel is based on cellulose fibres, enriched with targeted additives such as bitumen-modifying additives, depending on the product type. The product is used worldwide in Stone Mastic Asphalt, durable asphalt binder layers and other high-performance asphalt mixtures. <\/p>\n\n
Profiltra is proud that Genicel is now part of a Rijkswaterstaat specification.<\/p>\n\n
Rijkswaterstaat used Genicel in a new asphalt layer in the tunnel sections near Roermond on the A73. This asphalt layer is lighter grey in colour and offers several benefits in terms of road safety, energy consumption and temperature control. <\/p>\n\n
The use of Genicel in light grey asphalt provides better light reflection. This allows drivers to see the road surface more clearly, contributing to improved road safety and a reduction in traffic accidents. <\/p>\n\n
Due to the reflective effect of the asphalt, public lighting in tunnels can be dimmed. This can lead to significant energy savings of up to 50%. In addition, public lighting costs can also be reduced. <\/p>\n\n
Lighter-coloured asphalt retains less heat than traditional asphalt. This can help lower the temperature of the road surface, which is becoming increasingly relevant in light of the expected temperature increases over the coming decades. <\/p>\n\n
The use of Genicel shows how innovative material solutions can contribute to both road safety and energy savings within Dutch infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n
